Clinton promises education reform: AP

From the Associated Press, via the Boston Globe, let the 2008 antics over no Child Left Behind begin. Presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton has publicly proposed to overhaul NCLB if elected.

See this excerpt:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday President Bush has cut education funding so much that some schools are cutting programs such as art, music and dance. If elected president, the New York Democrat said she would work to revise the 2002 No Child Left Behind Act.

“Yes, I believe in accountability,” Clinton told a crowd of about 300 at [Cleveland, Ohio’s] John Hay High School, part of a struggling school district in what U.S. Census Bureau considers to be the nation’s poorest big city.

Anyone know how she voted when NCLB was being debated?

If Hillary is serious about overhauling NCLB, she will support the abolition of the Dept. of Education and support block grants to states.

People will say anything to get elected.

E.C. 🙂
