Eastern Guilford High Needs YOU!: GCS

We’re putting out the call for Eastern Guilford H.S. This from GCS:

After experiencing a devastating fire on November 1, 2006, students, faculty and staff at Eastern have learned to be extremely flexible. The school has worked hard to adapt to change, and this year’s senior projects are no different.

In past years, Eastern has split the projects up, with half of the students completing theirs in December and the other half in May. However, with the fire, all 200 senior projects will take place in May this year. Consequently, the school is in desperate need of additional judges for this important final assignment.

“Our seniors have been through a lot this year and then some, but you would never know it by the way they have been preparing their projects,” explained Charlie Abourjilie, curriculum facilitator at Eastern. “They are excited and anxious.”

The projects will take place on Friday, May 25 from 9 a.m. until 4:40 p.m. at the Bryan Park Conference Center. Parents, central office staff and community members are urged to volunteer. Judges can commit to helping out all day or for just a few hours. To become a judge, please contact Charlie Abourjilie at abourjc@gcsnc.com or 336-375-6307.

Starting with the class of 2010, all students in North Carolina will be required to complete a senior project for graduation. Students will select a topic, submit the project to a committee for review and pre-approval and develop both a research paper and a product related to the project.

E.C. 🙂
