Sorry EOC Scores: The Fallout

Interesting post from the N&R’s Chalkboard blog:

Last year you published a comparison excel file of 04-06 and 05-06. I have still have that file and have compared to 06-07.

For Algebra I 05-06 we were at 42% on or above grade level. For 06-07 we are at 21%!!!!!

For English 1 05-06 we were at 69% on or above grade level. For 06-07 we are at 58%!!!!!

For Algebra II 05-06 we were at 73% on or above grade level. For 06-07 we are at 43%!!!!!

The academy at Smith failed 100% of their kids in Algebra II! How much money is this costing?

The good news is that according to Dr Grier the tests were re-normed and much work needs to be be done!!

There is always an excuse with this guy. When are we going to wake up?

Why can Charlotte score almost 20% higher than we can? Even with the re-norming they score higher than we did “last” year…..

What does the News and Record think of this?????

Statman is right. And apparently there was a big NCAE meeting somewhere locally last night and both Amos Quick and the commissioners got an earful about all this.

Let the fallout begin. Because it says something when Charlotte posts scores 20% higher than Guilford Co.
