It Really Was About Student Achievement This Year (for some schools)

With GCS, if you miss a day, you miss a lot.

If you’re like me, and have been out of the loop for most of the summer with moving and all, if you miss a couple of months, you miss a lifetime.

Case in point, over at the N&R Chalkboard, another feud among posters over there seems to be fueling fires regarding the recently-released GCS preliminary ABC/AYP performance composite scores from this past academic year, specifically from schools that had those “go-teams.”

There have been some gains. Among them were Dudley, Welborn, High Point Central, Washington Elementary clearly made gains, congratulations to all of them.

And there’s room for discussion among other schools such as Smith…whoa! It’s score dropped 12 percentage points to 35.4% proficiency…yikes!

It’s not time to lower our guard for our children, the efforts have to continue! It is truly about student achivement, by any means necessary. I hope this is a better year for all of our schools.

E.C. 🙂
