Too many firestarters

https://i2.wp.com/www.cartoonstock.com/lowres/nbe0480l.jpg Apparently GCS is concerned with too many fires in a short span of time at many of its school buildings.

Again, as watchers of public education in the Peoples Republic of Guilford County, we all should be concerned…and hopefully GCS is doubling up on its fire insurance.

Today’s News & Record points out the detailed rash of fires at many schools across the county, including the incident a couple of weeks ago at Eastern Guilford H.S. Page H.S., which is separately dealing with a gang problem, recently had fires in its bathrooms.

See this excerpt from the article:

Officials aren’t sure what set off the rash of fires, which cropped up just as the district faced the first anniversary of a fire that gutted Eastern Guilford High School.

But school, law enforcement and fire officials are warning students that setting fires will result in harsh punishment. Information was sent home to parents at the schools where students intentionally set fires, said Tony Scales, the district’s school safety officer.

Here’s the tale of the tape:

Police and fire officials have investigated five fires inside three schools during October and a sixth in a school parking lot. That is an unusually high number, said Alan Perdue, director of Guilford County Emergency Services. There were no injuries or damage reported.
