Grier’s Gone–We wish him well

Their school board made the announcement about an hour ago, our board will host a small press conference this evening.

My thoughts are simple…

Terry Grier had a professional career here in Guilford County. There clearly were bumps and bruises, and division in the community (and in the schools) among some of his programs and projects and policies.

While we wish him the very best in his new position in San Diego, again, this is an opportunity for GCS to turn things around for the better. Our children should come first before all else. We have an opportunity to grow and shine. Let’s not damage that opportunity. As such, I hope our current Board takes its time in both appointing an interim superintendent and permanent chief. I still think the GCS Board should wait until after the elections to begin a search, and we should do it locally, looking for homegrown talent only. The community and school staff should be involved at every crossroads.

This is a golden moment. I personally wish Grier the best. But I also wish our Board the best as they hopefully will do the right thing.

  1. Great news!

  2. Congratulations on this new opportunity for your District. There are lots and lots out there who envy you right now. I think you’re taking the right approach by seeing this as an opportunity to make meaningful reforms and involve the community in that process.

  3. I might actually start caring about the public schools again. I had honestly given up on them.

  4. It is truly a new day for GCS and we should all embrace this opportunity and put the necessary pressure on our current Board to do the right thing.

  5. Enough of the “wish him well” CRAP already. This jerk destroyed this school district and MANY young lives and families have suffered! Are you kidding me?

And the School board sat idolly by and LET HIM actually PAID HIM BIG to DO IT!

I wish him the same horrible things he’s spread evenly throughout SEVERAL school districts!

Personally, I’ll be kissing the ground of the path on which this idiot EXITS!

I don’t want ANYONE in this country to believe that it would be safe now for their children to move here and be safe in public schools! Essence O Terry Grier will remain for some time to come! As long as the present board members have anything to do with this search for a new saddistic superintendent, we’re in trouble here! WAKE UP!

We need to get ALL of them out! Terry Grier supposedly had to “answer” to this school board? THIS MEANS that the school board helped create this disaster! They ALL need to go. We need a complete overhaul!

I’m disgusted anytime anyone wishes this weirdo well! What has happened in this school district compliments of Terry Grier AND the school board is deplorable and you ALL know it.

    Get Real!

  6. By the way, what’s the over/under on how long it takes for Dr. Grier to wear out his welcome in San Diego?

My prediction is that by the end of 2008, he already will have made people mad out there and will be flirting with another superintendent job. It’s the same story everywhere else he’s worked, so why should this one be any different?

  7. That’s right, just saying, 6 states 8 school districts. Doesn’t ANYONE ask any REAL questions??

I wish *I* would have been one of the parent who would have been invited to VENT to SDSD. Why was this idiot allowed to use OUR PARENTS to get his job after is 15,000.00 per year raise ANYWAY?

The whole thing is mind blowing to say the least. There should be an APB to all school districts nationwide naming Terry Grier and all of the board members names so they will know to slam the door immediately!

Better yet, install extra thick steal bank vault doors the moment any of them begin seeking employment!
